BOTTOM LINE
1USA Broadband DSL and Phone Service is the single best land line replacement you can buy. 

1.  The total cost of the 3MB connection AND the HD Quality Phone Service is $49.95 per month... plus approx. $3.71 per month Federal Line Charges on the phone circuit. 
This is a real phone circuit.

2.  Hardware costs:
 - $99.95 one time Router cost.  We only  use Routers that have configurable Firewalls built in.  Anything less is hackable.  Thus, our customers don't get hacked into.  The Router supports HotSpot Wireless, which means that you can run around the house with a Laptop.
In a future year should you choose to quit the service, we will buy back the Router if it's sellable, or you can sell it yourself on our 1USA Classifieds.

 - $299.00 one time Phone System cost.  In previous years, you needed to spend $150 per phone for VOIP Phones.  Technology has come a long way... and now you only need one phone interface box... which plugs into your existing house wiring.  All phones in your house will work.

Here are your options:

 - MagicJack $20 per year.  Requires the computer be turned on.  Requires a headset and a microphone.  All voice packets go through the computer... so if the computer is slow, your voice may be "skippy".

 - Vonage or other VOIP service.  Has a monthly cost.  Long Distance isn't the cheapest around.  Requires the computer be turned on.  Requires a headset and a microphone.  All voice packets go through the computer... so if the computer is slow, your voice may be "skippy".

 - Our Telo Phone Service:  Buy the Telo Phone unit once and you have free phone service for life.  Only the taxes are due monthly, unless you subscribe to the Premium Features for $10/mo. 
Plug any regular phone into it.

VOIP Packets are assigned a high priority to eliminate skipping (if your DSL internet connection is fast enough to handle it) (which is why we require a 3MB or higher DSL connection).
Regular VOIP phone is 64k packets.  Ours has "Hi-Def" 128k packets.
Web page interface to view & play missed calls, or send calls as .mp3 files to your 1USA email address.
Forward incoming calls to your house phone or your cell phone.
On vacation?  Dial your phone number, enter your Pin# and listen to any calls waiting for you.

Begin using the service by ordering the Telo Phone unit and get a new phone number assigned. 
You can begin using it right away and compare it against your regular house phone. 
Use it for ALL of your long distance calls!!!!!  We use it here in the 1USA office.

You have the option to eliminate your Verizon phone bills:  After your account is created, there is a $40 charge to attach your current home phone number to the Telo Phone unit.
1USA needs to be involved.  We need to change your circuit type to a Dry Line circuit.
 

If you want more telephony bling, try the Premier Class Phone Service ... which adds a second line, three-way calling, voicemail via e-mail, and a host of privacy features.
After your 60-day Premier trial, a subscription to Premier will cost you $10 per month or $120 annually. Sign up for a year and the $40 fee for porting an existing number is waived.  (which you can skip if you want to choose a new number anyway).

Even the rates for Premier are still significantly lower than those for Vonage.  And the call quality was far superior to that of Vonage or MagicJack. The audio sounds crisp and echo-free every time.  The service supports one-button voicemail retrieval and permits syncing with Outlook 2007 contact lists.

The phone service offers a couple of interesting extras not matched by Vonage or any other VoIP service. The first is an optional Bluetooth adapter ($30) that pairs your cell phone with your Telo Interface unit so you can answer incoming cell phone calls on your home phone. That convenient feature works beautifully on iPhone. In addition, ycan use your Bluetooth headset for calls around the house, another nice perk.
